Princeton University and High Meadows Foundation: Working towards a Common Goal

Tuesday, February 3rd, 2009

Princeton University’s Sustainability Plan is directed towards realizing a sustainable global environment. The plan prioritizes 3 areas: greenhouse gas reduction; resource conservation; and research, education, and civic engagement. Recently, the plan was given a boost when High Meadows Foundation provided funding covering a period of 4 years. High Meadows is a private nonprofit organization that supports programs geared towards achieving a better environment.

Focused mainly on the research, education, and civic management goals set by the plan, High Meadows’ financial assistance will allow the institution to take bolder steps in coming up with ideas which can be put into action. It will also encourage people and groups to come out with their ideas so that they will be provided the proper venue for laying out their projects.

As a result of the High Meadows gift, a Sustainability Forum will be held in September aimed at providing beneficial information, especially to members of local communities. Awareness campaigns like this will help the institution to reach out to more people and initiate positive action.

The funding will also bring together the institution’s students, teachers, and University members, and push them to work towards a common goal.

High Meadows’ funding of Princeton University’s Sustainability Plan is reflective of the foundation’s philosophy of partnering with institutions and organizations to achieve their environmental goals.

With the gift, Princeton University is assured that their goal of a sustainable global environment will finally take off.
