Staying at Home for Holidays Could Be Money Well Spent

Friday, July 31st, 2009

With the festival season well under way, what better time to pack up a tent and head off to the countryside for a long weekend away? British holidays don’t have to be boring when the festival season is underway.

More of us will holiday closer to home this year, but forget tatty tents, grubby sleeping bags and tins of cold baked beans.

Now you can take along all those little luxuries and home comforts (including the kitchen sink – we kid not).

‘Argos has seen demand for its two-person and four-person camping starter sets up 140per cent on the same time last year. Family camping holidays look to be making a comeback, with demand for children’s camping products up 41per cent,’ says camping equipment buyer Matt Stent.

Younger children will love the Hannah Montana camping chair and In The Night Garden sleeping bag, while kids of all ages will go for inflatable chairs.

Those looking for something prettier than the traditional khaki tent can opt for Cath Kidston’s floral tepee, which sleeps six.

Similarly, with cooking equipment and utensils, the brighter the items are, the less likelihood there is that they’ll be lost or misplaced.

Not On The High Street has some great retro flasks and colourful melamine crockery.

Marsh-Mellow, the country’s first one-stop festival shop, which opened in London’s Spitalfields Market last month, sells all the expected camping and festival fare as well as more funky items.

Instead of a normal sleeping bag, why not invest in the Lippi Selk sleeping bag with arms and legs so you can wear it – and fall asleep in it after a few drinks round the campfire.

Then there’s the spork (a spoon and fork in one), the Sea To Summit kitchen sink and, for those who really do need their home comforts, a toilet roll holder.

From blankets and rugs to cooking equipment, and lighting (check out Celia Birtwell’s classy lanterns for Millets) to campfire games, whatever you decide to take with you, make sure your holiday campsite feels like a home away from home.

Get Real Traffic to Your Site for Free!

Tuesday, July 28th, 2009

Building a website can present itself as a challenge, but once it’s completed you need people to know about it. How does one go about getting a steady flow of online traffic? The article that you’re reading will explain what to do and give you the marketing edge!

1. The fastest way to get hits is to take part in what you’re seeing. Write articles. Writing articles will get you a lot of hits for your site. You can write about anything you’d like, really. The secret of getting it to work is to make your articles go hand-in-hand with what you have to offer. If you are a political genius, you could write political articles. If you’re a specialist in health care, you can write about the medications and technologies available to the health field. It’s wise to stick with what you know. You wouldn’t want to write about nuclear fission, if you’re not in that field of work.

Ezines will pick up your material if they like what they see. That’s more exposure for you. The more exposure you gain, the more hits your site will receive. Be sure to always invite the reader to visit your site. Give them a reason to. Don’t say, “Visit my site at “X” address.” It’s all about exposure, and to get that exposure you will have to promote yourself.

2. Submit to the search engines. Everyone would like to have a number one spot on Google or Yahoo. You’ll get there, but you’ll have to work for it. There are free sites that offer search engine submissions to the top search engines. http://www.addme.com will do this for free. You will have to register for a few things, but it will get you listed. It won’t cost you a dime.

3. Always try to link to others who are in the same category as you. If you’re an author, link to other authors. There’s no need to worry about competition. You’ll gain a lot of exposure by doing so. The search engines also use this in their spiders to discover your page ranking. If you have a thousand hits, your page ranking will grow. The higher page ranking you have, the more exposure you’ll receive. Do not join a link exchange farm on the internet. Google bans websites that take part in that. Link exchange farms exists to try to manipulate the search engines into including them. In reality, it only hurts your cause. If you get banned for joining one of them, there goes your search engine traffic. Link exchange farms will only harm you. I can’t stress that enough.

4. This is similar to mutual links, but have a few outgoing links on your site. You’ll get search engine points for having a few of them. If you have thirty links that are similar to yours that backlink to you, add three outgoing links that have nothing to do with what you’re doing. It would be best to have those outgoing links with a higher page ranking. You can do research on what sites have higher page rankings with such online tools, such as http://www.iwebtool.com

5. Just get out and promote your site with every chance you get. If you belong to any message boards, add your site in your signature. You may get a few hits by doing so. You’ll want to give them a reason to visit. Don’t spam and follow all rules that the administrators have in place.

It sounds simple, and it really is. It’s not that hard, it’s just learing how to get started. I hope that you have gained some knowledge on how to get that much needed web traffic to your site. There are other ways to gain traffic, but this is basically the crash course. When you get this down pat, you can branch out to traffic generators and the such. The only problem with those is that no one hardly stays long enough to visit your site. Most people only stay long enough to get points to build up their web traffic.

Part 2

7. Ezine Ads – create an ad for your product and find ezines that
cater to your target market. Write several ads and track them
until you find one that pulls well.

8. Signature file – include this all your online and offline
correspondence. Set up your email client so that it does this
automatically each time you send out an email. Include your name,
who you are, what your business is about, a way to subscribe to
your newsletter, your web site address and your email.

Link strategies

9. Write articles – ezine publishers are always looking for
original content. You can include a link back to your web site in
your signature file. If several ezine publishers (that may have
thousands of subscribers) publish your article, you can get
hundreds of links pointing back to your web site.

10. Reciprocal linking – get links from other sites that
compliment yours. ie if you just offer web design and someone
else offers search engine optimization you could exchange links
with each other, thus adding to the quality of each of your
sites.

11. Forums – offer your help to other forum participants then
leave a link back to your site in your signature file. Popular
forums are spidered regularly by the search engines, thus giving
your site a link boost.

12. Offline marketing

Not all your customers are online. Market offline by including
your web site information on all stationary ie letterhead, and
business cards. Place ads in newspapers, trade publications, send
out postcards, fliers and get involved in local organizations
such as the Chamber of Commerce. You can even set up your own
local club or be a guest speaker for others.

Continuously evaluate, test and refine your web site marketing
strategies so that you can apply them to any product. These
are the keys to building a successful online business.

Here are the 6 Web Site Marketing Strategies discussed in Part 1 of this article.

Ladies Watches

Sunday, July 26th, 2009

From pocket watch to a fashion accessory. What was once, in the earliest years of portable watches, considered to be unsuitable for gentlemen and only for women, has developed today into a fashion utensil that everybody has. Meanwhile, the wristwatch is no longer only a tool to tell the time. It is a designer piece and can indicate much more than the time.

A great deal of mechanics in a small housing

The first confirmable portable timepiece was constructed in 1500. This was not a wristwatch, but more of a pocket watch. Through technical progress, which made it possible for people to house mechanics in an more and more smaller space, the necessary parts of the clockworks were able to be brought into a manageable form. In this way, the first pocket watch was born, which at the time was still the size of an egg.

The computerized wristwatch from Japan

A entirely new watch came onto the market in the 1970’s from Japan, which had developed its own watch industry. The new wristwatch from Japan was no more set on a mechanical basis, but on a computerized control. This wrist watch expanded its range of capacity quickly. The wristwatch no longer just showed the time. The little timepiece on the wrist now also knew the date, the day of the week and even knew whether a leap year was involved.

The wristwatch as jewelry

Now, the wristwatch is much more than a watch. The wrist watch has become a fashion accessory. Particularly Ladies watches come in all colouration and forms conceivable. One can also get harmonious watches from every fashion collection. The current watches are dominated by the correct fashion trends. Despite these different styles, there is something for every taste. The tiny watches, which require glasses to tell the time, and the extraordinary giant watches, which make it hard to walk upright. In any case, one thing is sure: science is still likely to make so much advancement – that the wristwatch will be seen on the wrists of people for a long time, to answer the question as to what time it is.

What Have I Been Reading Lately, What I Reckon about Twitter and Why Blogging Is the Best

Sunday, July 26th, 2009

I have been discovering a lot of great new blogs recently. I am not sure about all the twitter bustle. I still enjoy blogs and have a substantial number in my feed reader.

The point with blogs is that you can find hidden treasures, and they are from people that in reality like to write.

Sure you can chance some swanky people on twitter. But, seriously, twitter is for individuals with attention defecit disorder or who dont like to write authentic posts. Yes, bunches of people twitter and also blog, and those people are cool by me, but I am always and eternally a blog fan.

Blogs drive the author to really articluate their feeling. Twitter alternatively merely allows you to express it. Call me old fashioned but I think there is a point where smaller is no longer fresher. We have been obsessed with miniturization for so long. Specially when it comes to technology. Certainly there has to be a place where we get substance counts. Value matters. What do you suppose?

Maybe the true answer lies in balance. And compromise. You cannot force individuals to have heart and soul and not be superficial. But, too maybe you need to pressure the obama loving hippies to lighten up a little too?

Durom Recall Lawsuits Emerging Very Quickly

Friday, July 24th, 2009

Many American’s receive joint replacements each year. It is a method for senior citizens or anyone with worn out joints to obtain additional years of being active and enjoying life. As technique has become so commonplace, many people do not question their physicians or the producers of their joint replacements about how high-quality they are. This has led to practices that can actually cause injury to you or your loved ones. If you know someone who has received a hip replacement, read on for this important information about the manufacturer zimmer hip.

The current hip replacement surgery has been happening since the 1970’s, which is why it may seem so ordinary to one. A hip replacement, such as those from Durom, most commonly involves three separate pieces, designed to mimic how a natural knee joint would. They include a metal replacement for part of the femur. A component which allows for movement like the joint naturally would, and either bone cement or screws to hold the contraption in place.

One of the most common issues with hip replacements is the need for revision, or a further surgery to correct issues with the implant. Many older and even some young and healthy patients just can’t tolerate it, unfortuately. It is the focus of the Zimmer zimmer hip lawsuit. The Durom device was used by doctors in younger patients that would normally need a hip replacement, as it was designed to be long lasting. But more than 10% of these paitents are in need for having repeat surgery in the next 2 years.

If you or someone you know has had a hip replacement surgery in the last several years, ask your doctor if it was a Durom. If it was, even if you have not had a failure of your hip replacement yet, you may be able to join a class action law suit. If Durom reaches you don’t sign anything or you could lose this right.

Health Insurance Plans for Students

Friday, July 24th, 2009

It’s easy to forget about medical insurance policies while planning for an education. Most students are at an age where health insurance is the final thing they consider. When you are in your 20’s you will usually tend to think that you will live forever so naturally you’ll never develop any illness.

Unfortunately, no matter how healthy a person may appear, it is no way to anticipate their continuing good health. Suitable medical insurance isn’t only a great plan, it’s absolutely necessary.

For those students who are included in a family insurance policy, most of them will include a college student until they are twenty three. For anyone who does not currently have cover under their family plan, exploring alternative insurance plans for affordable student health insurance has to be an integral part of getting ready for a further education.

What’s essential in a policy designed specifically for college students? Deductibles: It’s a yearly sum you must pay before any health benefits are available, very like a car insurance policy. To use an illustration, should the deductible be 500 dollars, $500 has to be paid prior to claiming any payment connected with the insurance. So what is meant by the term co-pay? When your deductible is covered, usually for every trip to the physician, medicine, and operation you’ll need to pay a pre-determined part of the bill. This, in a nutshell is co-pay. What is your range of insurance coverage? Many policies do include Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) or Partnership for Prescription Assistance. This means certain physicians may be omitted from your list of health providers or not be covered under the health insurance policy. A detailed list of participating health professionals are included with most insurance plans, before confirming your decision make sure you study this list carefully. What is catastrophic health insurance coverage? There is frequently a limit on medical insurance plans specifically for students as far as catastrophic illness, and for most medical insurance for college students, the cover is commonly less than any regular insurance policy. Restrictions: Low-cost student medical coverage plans may have diverse limits. It’s essential to read your insurance policy carefully to discover precisely what may and may not be covered in any policy. Keep your health insurance documents on your person everywhere. Accidents and illnesses are not only not possible to predict, they’re also liable to occur when it is least expected. So take care to be familiar with the details of your inexpensive student health policy even should you be included in your parent’s policy.

If You Are Planning on Making a Visit to Chamonix Mont Blanc France It’s Best to Carry out at Least a Bit of Research Prior to Your Skiing Trip

Tuesday, July 21st, 2009

The ski resort of Chamonix is lauded for its skiing and snowboarding however, unlike lots of other skiing towns, its skiing areas are not interconnected.

In total Chamonix has 5 separate ski fields – Argentiere, the tree lined Les Houches, sunny Brevent, Flegere and not forgetting Le Domain du Balme – however only two are interlinked, and this involves using a shuttle bus or taking your car to and from the five different domains.

Therefore finding your way around Chamonix can be demanding, and a knowledge of Chamonix town certainly helps.

If the group is new to skiing then having ski lessons with a ski school would be a good start, the instructors can counsel you on which ski pass to purchase.

Evidently a map of the area will be handy, and these can be picked up for free either from the tourist office or from any of the snowboarding areas.

Then you’ll need to go to a ski hire shop to hire some snowboarding gear, and there’s a lot of ski hire shops in town to pick out there should not be much trouble whatsoever.

Subsequently it is wise to confirm the short term weather forecast, ski report or a webcam, whilst Chamonix has a high altitude skiing resort so the meteorological conditions change rapidly.

Should you are traveling to Chamonix France for a week’s trip or a luxury ski holiday you shall discover that there is lots to keep you absorbed.
